Merlin specialises in health, saving lives in times of crisis and helping to rebuild shattered health services.
Training and supporting health workers is central to everything Merlin does, from grassroots on-the-job supervision of rural health workers to establishing national training schools for midwives.
This way, we help to create lasting change, realising people's right to accessible, affordable and appropriate health care.
In the Central African Republic, for example, Merlin is working in two districts, renovating and rehabilitating vital rural health facilities. We're helping to train all the Ministry of Health staff as we go, running essential training courses where staff can learn, share and be supported.
We're working closely with the Ministry of Health to advocate for the needs of health workers, lobbying to ensure effective funding is in place to help pay regular living wages, both for those on the ground and those needed to fill the ranks. We're also working closely with other agencies to ensure health is given the priority it rightfully deserves.
